The Bay Area’s first comprehensive bilingual Doula training program

Birth Companions Doula Training

Become a Doula

What began as supporting 18 births annually has flourished into 396 births in a matter of five years—growth driven almost entirely by word-of-mouth within the community. Recognizing the escalating need, BCCC established San Francisco's first Spanish doula training program. Today, over 60 doulas participate in our collective, providing culturally-relevant prenatal and postnatal support for families.

These doulas receive stipends and, significantly, can now access Medi-Cal reimbursement for their services—creating sustainable career paths while strengthening community health and stability.

By training doulas directly from the communities they serve, BCCC’s Doula Training program is changing the landscape of birth companionship. Our approach integrates crucial cultural practices and understanding as well as mentorship for career paths that benefit doulas' families and their communities.
